How to Remove Social Squared from the SharePoint App Catalog

If you no longer require Social Squared in your SharePoint environment, follow the steps below to remove the solution from the App Catalog and clean up any associated lists and libraries.

Note: Before removing Social Squared and its associated residual lists, you may want to export its content. To do this, please refer to the following link: Export Social Squared Content.


Step 1: Remove the Social Squared App from the App Catalog

  1. Navigate to your SharePoint App Catalog.
  2. Locate the Social Squared SSPKG file in the list of apps.
  3. Select the app and click Delete to remove it from the App Catalog.

Step 2: Identify and Delete Social Squared Lists and Libraries

When Social Squared is added to a site, it provisions several lists and libraries. Some of these are visible in Site Contents, while others are hidden. Here’s how to remove them:

Visible Lists and Libraries:

  • Navigate to Site Contents.
  • Look for the following lists and libraries:
    • SS_Posts
    • SS_Attachments
    • SS_EmailDigest
  • Delete these lists and libraries directly from Site Contents.

Hidden Lists:

  • Use the browser to access hidden lists by appending /lists/[ListName] to your site URL. For example:
    • https://YourSiteURL/lists/SS_ForumGroups
  • Refer to the full list of hidden lists below and delete each one:
    • SS_ForumGroups
    • SS_Forums
    • SS_Topics
    • SS_Likes
    • SS_Votes
    • SS_Ratings
    • SS_ForumAlerts
    • SS_TopicAlerts
    • SS_TagCloud
    • SS_Badges
    • SS_Followers
    • SS_TopicsRead
    • SS_Favorites
    • SS_GroupsForumAlerts
    • SS_GroupsTopicAlerts
    • SS_TempAttachments
    • SS_Terms
    • SS_TagAlerts
    • SS_IgnoreTopicAlerts
    • SS_UserForumGroups
    • SS_Polls
    • SS_PollsAnswers

Step 4: Verify Cleanup

  1. Ensure all Social Squared web parts, lists, and libraries have been removed from the site.
  2. Check for any residual data or customizations related to Social Squared.

Notes

  • Data Viewer and Lightning Conductor Users: If you used Social Squared lists with these tools, ensure any linked views or charts are updated or removed to avoid broken connections.

By following these steps, you can successfully remove Social Squared from your SharePoint environment, including all associated lists and libraries.
